Why Summit for Survivors

This isn't a race, and you don't need hiking experience to take part. Summit for Survivors is a peer-to-peer friendraiser, that just means each person or team who registers sets up their own simple fundraising page, then asks friends and family to support them in honor of the hike they're about to do. The hike itself is the reason people give; the climb is what makes the ask meaningful.

Every dollar raised goes toward one specific, tangible outcome: covering the cost of education for girls who are graduating from a Reintegra safe home next year. These are young women rebuilding their lives after surviving exploitation, and continued education is one of the most important tools they have to build an independent, secure future.

You don't have to be an experienced climber, a fundraising expert, or even able to attend in person to be part of this. There's a role for almost everyone — climbing, fundraising from home, or simply spreading the word.

We also invite those joining us to share with friends and family why they are participating in this event and to ask them sponsor you on this hike. Together we will share a fundraising page. And everything we raise will go toward:

  • The care of survivors.

  • Their education in the pursuit of their specific dreams.

  • The work of advocacy to help rescue more women and children.

* We will reschedule if the weather forecast is bad for September 5th.

Why Huron Peak?

Huron Peak is a 14,003-foot mountain in Colorado's Sawatch Range — a serious but achievable climb for a reasonably fit beginner with the right preparation. We chose it because the journey mirrors the story we're trying to tell: it's hard, it takes preparation and support, and the view from the top is worth every step.

The girls we're raising funds for have climbed something far harder than a mountain. This is our way of standing with them, literally putting in the effort, and turning that effort into something real: their education, fully funded.

The Weekend at a Glance

Friday, July 24 — Basecamp Night We'll gather and camp together near the trailhead the night before the climb. This is optional but highly recommended — it's a great way to meet your fellow climbers, get final questions answered, and start the morning of the hike already on-site.

Bringing your family? You're welcome to camp as a group even if only one family member is doing the summit hike. Kids, partners, and supporters are part of this too — they can enjoy basecamp, send their climber off in the morning, and celebrate at the summit return.

Saturday, July 25 — Summit Day Early morning start to reach the summit and back safely. Full timing, trailhead directions, and what to expect on the trail will be included in your welcome packet after registration.

Registration and What’s Included

Your $25 registration covers event materials, morning snacks and food, and is also counted toward your personal fundraising goal — so it's not an extra cost on top of fundraising, it's your first step toward it.

Once you complete early registration, you'll receive a Welcome Packet that includes:

  1. Your training & prep guide — summit training tips, a packing list, and everything else you need to know to prepare for the climb.

  2. Your personal fundraising page — a simple peer-to-peer page where you choose which girl's education you're raising funds for, and where friends and family can give in support of your climb.

  3. A Reintegra chilango bandana — wear it on the trail and proudly represent the cause.

  4. Friendraising resources — tips and ready-to-use messaging on how to talk about Reintegra's work and ask friends and family to support your fundraiser.
