Celebrating hispanic heritage month with cocina con neli

September 19 at 5pm MST

What better way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month than making chiles en nogada with Neli?

Considered by many to be the national dish of Mexico, chiles en nogada showcases the colors of the country’s flag: green, white and red. Created by nuns in Puebla in 1821, the dish was presented to the general of the Mexican Army, Agustín de Iturbide, after he signed the treaty that recognized Mexico’s independence from Spain. It’s served throughout the country every September, in honor of Mexico’s Independence Day.

We are excited to offer a virtual cooking class by Neli, one of the amazing women of Reintegra! Neli is a talented and passionate chef. One of her dreams is to own a restaurant in Mexico and just before the start of the pandemic, she launched a business that catered events and had a tamale stand in a popular open air market in 2020. Her business was taking off as her tamales were adored by everyone who tried them. Unfortunately, when the pandemic set in, she had to close up shop. Neli now wants to combine her passion for cooking and her love of people with a virtual cooking class. In this class, Neli will walk you through one of her delicious homemade recipes.

The Cocina con Neli classes are live events and take place in the evening from 5:00PM - 7:00PM MST on September 19th with the class size limited to 20 devices. After you sign up, you’ll get an email with all the ingredients you should buy. If you want a sneak peak check out and subscribe to her youtube page.

Neli is a great teacher and loves to interact with her students, so be ready to ask questions! This class will be in both English and Spanish with interpretation.
